A Licensed Nursing Facility Unique in the Nation…
Columbus Colony Elderly Care (CCEC) is the only health-related facility
in the nation “for the Deaf, by the Deaf.” It has received national
and local recognition as a leader in serving the needs of
the Deaf, Deaf-blind, and hard of hearing. It serves as a model for the
nation to provide a licensed nursing facility for people
with disabilities. CCEC is
a non-profit
nursing home and long term care facility near Columbus, OH
certified for private pay, managed care, Medicare and
Medicaid, offering both skilled and intermediate levels of
care.

| CCEC’s interpreters are available to accompany residents on all health
care and recreational trips out of the facility. All
religious, social, recreation and educational activities are
interpreted. Tactile communication is available for the Deaf-blind and printed material is also available in
Braille. CCEC is an affiliate of the Helen Keller National
Center.

Special
Devices and Design…
CCEC provides access to closed-captioned TV programming and both audio
and visual alarm systems throughout the building. In
addition, TTY service and phone amplification are also
available. The large open spaces in the building were
designed to facilitate sign communication.
