Specially-Trained Activities Staff

We employ three specially-trained staff members in order to provide a varied schedule of daily activities. This includes exercise/movement classes, crafts, games, parties, captioned films, and informational classes and speakers.

Escorted Trips

Escorted trips are provided to restaurants and to other socialization / recreation activities. This includes seasonal events such as trips to see holiday lights and the 4th of July fireworks. In addition, one major out of town trip is offered annually for those who are able to participate. Some previous trips have been to Walt Disney World, New England and the Smokey Mountains.

Computers Installed for Resident Use

Columbus Colony Elderly Care took a big step forward by installing computers for resident use. These computers are connected to the Internet so residents can write their loved ones and receive immediate responses to their messages. There are also games installed on these computers for the leisurely enjoyment of the residents. It is our interest to expand this service and add features for more accessibility. In this capacity we are accepting for donation Pentium class PCs or PowerPC class Apples to expand some of these capabilities.

Outside Talent Groups Regularly Scheduled

The residents of CCEC are often treated to outside talent groups. These groups are accompanied by an ASL interpreter or closed captioning.

Volunteers Needed

Volunteers fill a critical role in the activities department. A volunteer coordinator connects the talents of the volunteers to the needs of the residents. The relationship enhances the quality of life for the volunteer and the resident. Send a message to volunteer coordinator Barbara Fox (pictured above) to volunteer at CCEC.

A Warm CCEC Weekend with Deb

Spend a warm CCEC Weekend with Deb Brockman as she tours the facility sharing smiles with the residents and employees. Contact Deb through eMail.
